DALTON GAUTHIER FINISHES SECOND IN AFT SINGLES CLASS AT THE DAYTONA TT ON MOTO ANATOMY SUPPORTED MOTORCYCLE
CENTER HILL, Fl (March 15, 2019) – Yet another Daytona TT podium has been secured for the No. 122 AFT Singles rider Dalton Gauthier. Gauthier raced to the lead in the first lap and maintained a head to head battle with No. 132 Jesse Janisch where he ultimately placed second overall ahead of No. 1 2018 defending Championship Dan Bromley. After clearing the Road to Recovery program for the 2019 season, Gauthier has spent his off-seasons gearing up for his debut race in Daytona, where he took the win in 2017. Moto Anatomy’s owner Johnny Lewis stepped up to provide Gauthier a Moto Anatomy/Solid Performance KTM KTM 450 SX-F to pilot for the TT.
The Solid Performance KTM 450 SX-F comes from the fleet of motorcycles used by Moto Anatomy flat-track training school. The engine bared no modifications, but boasted significant upgrades including FMF Racing exhaust, Rekluse clutch and Spec fuel. The chassis setup consists of the WP Suspension standard AER forks and shock that was lowered and valved for flat track specifically. A Beringer MX Front Brake Kit was added to make up time and handle the heat that developed with the hard braking off of the banking into turn one on the TT track.
Moto Anatomy Owner and Coach, Johnny Lewis, provided technical and logistical support to Gauthier leading up to and during the race. Rob McLendon of D&D Cycles served as lead technician. Additional support team included Tom Draina, Tobias Vowell and Rogerio Boechat.
"Dalton is talented, we all knew that”, said Lewis. “I’ve seen a whole new rider in Dalton Thursday night, he has matured and he is focused. I didn't think his confidence level was as high as it needed to be coming into the day with everything happening so fast, like getting approved to race only a few days prior event. But, it just began to build throughout the day with support from Rob McLendon and I. It takes a tribe at the track and I felt like we had it Thursday night."
"It was an honor seeing Dalton finish his first race in nearly two seasons on my motorcycle”, Johnny Lewis states. “Within short-notice I was able to secure all the necessary components to build a race bike for Dalton on Wednesday with the help of Rob McLendon, Tobias Vowell, Rogerio Boechat and Tom Draina. We installed everything from the exhaust to clutch, drilled and safety wired and even bled the new Beringer Brake system we got on race day. The day before the same motorcycle placed first in the Amateur DTX class with a student of mine."
Gauthier’s remaining race program is to be finalized, yet he will continue with technical and logistical support from D&D Cycles, Moto Anatomy, and Certified Plumbing for the remainder of the 2019 season.
